Things to Do in Bali with Kids
Last Updated: 26 February 2021
So, you’ve finally booked your ticket to Bali with your little ones. Congrats! And now you are wondering, what the hell am I gonna do with them? How will I keep them entertained throughout the holiday? How can I go to Bali with the kids without going ‘bankrupt’?
Don’t worry! You can go through this. I will personally help you through this article. I have been going to these places with my kids and guarantee that they (and you) will have great quality time.
Let’s jump right in, here are all of the things to do with kids in Bali (the best ones only)..
My Kids favourite 5 things to do in bali
Although there is a long list of things to do in this article. Here are my kids’ favourite 5 things to do. The activities that they keep asking me to do over and over again.
1
Bali Zoo is definitely my childrens’ personal favourite. We have been going to this zoo for.. I don’t even remember.. Probably more than fifteen times. We even bought the yearly pass to Bali Zoo. It’s really worth it!
What makes my kid love Bali Zoo so much?
Firstly, they let the kids interact directly with some of the animals (the tamed ones of course). From the moment you come into the zoo, you will be greeted with a herd of deers (not in cages).
There are lots of points of animal interaction in this zoo. The kids are given chances to feed elephants, have breakfast with Orangutan and even pet snakes and crocodiles (don’t worry its totally safe).
I have to say they have the greatest selections of animals for a zoo in Bali. They have endangered animals such as the Bornean Orangutan, and even exotic birds such as Moluccan King Parrot.
The best thing is they keep upgrading their facilities and adding their animal collection. I heard from one of the staff that they are going to have new exhibitions for African wildlife, like hyenas, giraffes, and many more. The kids will definitely ask me to come back as they love the Lion King movie so much.
By the way, you should book online as it is much cheaper than purchasing the tickets on the spot. You can buy them from Bali Zoo’s official website.
2
Tamora Gallery
Best Free Playground in Bali
If you are looking for a place where the kids can roam freely in the playground, for FREE.. then I could not recommend Tamora Gallery enough.
My three year old twins spend most of their weekend in this playground. The playground is inside a semi open space retail area. The space isn’t really huge, but it does give the kids plenty of room and activities to play.
They have a wooden tower for the kids to climb up and slides at one end of it. There are swings, a roundabout and an artificial hill (which also serve as one of the best places to watch the sunset).
On top of that, Tamora Gallery have free activities varying from Free Face Painting, making handcrafts to Free music lessons every Sunday.
While waiting for the kids, you can stroll around the area to shop or eat at one of the cafes that open in Tamora Gallery.
3
Flamingo Beach Club
Best Family Friendly Beach Club in Bali
Now, this is my personal favourite place to laze around all day with great food, swimming pool and a small but amazing playground corner.
Here is my suggestion, come on the weekdays and you can enjoy the beach club more as it doesn’t get too crowded. The kids will be able to ride the giant flamingo floaties and slide down the pirate ship themed playground.
The fun part coming on the weekend though, they have free face painting activities for the kids at 4 pm. And they bring some animals from Balitopia Butterfly Park from just across the venue. I am quite sure that they are under the same management.
The kids will be able to interact with butterflies, beetles and even snakes!
There is an entry fee of IDR 100.000 per adult and IDR 75,000 per child. But, the fees are credited towards food and beverages. Frankly, the prices are considerably affordable when you compared to the other Beach Clubs in Bali.
4
Waterbom Bali
Best Water Park in Bali
Waterbom is my favourite place to go during the holidays when I was younger. And it is now my children’s favourite heaven on earth. But it is quite expensive. That is why we only go to Waterbom at most twice a year.
The water park is huge! It even boasts that it is the second largest in the World. They also don’t lie about being the best in Asia.
The variety of slides will definitely make any children forget about time as they go up and down the stairs to try every slide available.
But, even though there are activities for the younger children and toddlers, I feel that the entrance fee is still not worth the experience. My suggestion is only come here if your children are older enough to play most of the slides.
5
Berawa Art House
Best Art Class in Bali
If your kids are into art, then you can’t miss going to Berawa Art House. This is one of the best art classes for children above 4 years old.
The place isn’t far from Tamora Gallery and overlooks the rice field which is truly amazing for spending the day with the children.
What the kids and I love the most is the teachers at Berawa Art House are very friendly and have the most amazing skill (not only about art, but also the skill to teach the children).
There are different classes for each age group ranging from: watercolours, graphite and inks drawing and even acrylics class.
Book the class in advance as the class get filled quickly during the holidays.

There is a little cafe inside Bali Equestrian Center where family could hang out during their session here.

Butterfly Park

There are two butterfly park in Bali. The first one is in Tabanan called Bali Butterfly Park (Taman Kupu Kupu Bali) and the newer addition is Kemenuh Butterfly Park in Gianyar.
Both Butterfly Park showcase hundreds of beautiful and colourful butterflies. This prove to be an educational experience for the young one as they learn the many stages of metamorphoses of different species, from egg until it morph into a grown life-size butterfly.
If you ask me which one is the better one to visit, I would suggest you to consider which one is a more convenient stop over during your trip. If you are ever going to the northern part of Bali, then you should give Bali Butterfly Park a visit.

Many parents are extremely worried about letting their kids go river rafting in Bali due to the river rapids. However, there is no reason to worry as long as you choose the right rafting provider. Some of the recommended ones are Mason Adventure and Sobek.
There are two locations for rafting in Bali: Ayung River and Telaga Waja. Ayung River has smaller waves and obstacles, thus suitable for kids from 5 years old. While older kids (from 8 years old) can try the Telaga Waja Rafting if they love more challenges.

Canyon Tubing over almost similar experience to river rafting, however instead of using boats, the kids will only be using personal inflatable raft (no paddles involved).
